Captain Howard's company of the King's Orange Rangers, a Royal Provincial Regiment, was stationed in Liverpool Nova Scotia during the American Revolution to defend the town from American Privateers. In addition to supplying the town with a garrison the KOR frequently served as marines aboard Liverpool's privateer vessels when searching for American privateers reported along Nova Scotia's southwestern coast.

More than 200 years after the King's Orange Rangers were disbanded at the conclusion of the American Revolution a group of citizens came together to re-form the KOR. In 1996 Liverpool's streets once more reported the echo of soldiering feet in unison, the call of the Sergeant's orders and the thunderous roar of Brown Bess muskets.
The King's Orange Rangers re-enactment group welcomes all those interested in historical re-enactment. In addition to the roles of soldiers, which both men and women are welcome to portray, the KOR also includes roles such as tradespeople, suttlers (merchants) and camp followers, including children and "mollies", women who traveled with the military in roles such as cook, laundress or soldier's wives. We welcome both individuals and families to join us in the pursuit of preserving history by providing opportunities for our members and the public to re-live part of Canada's history.
